East Palestine

East Palestine, a village in Columbiana County covering 3.15 square miles, is just a few miles from the Pennsylvania state line, approximately 50 miles northwest of Pittsburgh and 20 miles southeast of Youngstown. As of the 2010 census there were 4,721 people, 1,898 households, and 1,282 families residing in East Palestine.  

The pride of East Palestine is it's beautiful 100-acre park that offers a nearly 3-mile hiking/biking trail, a swimming pool with a state-of-the-art waterslide, softball and baseball fields, basketball courts, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and tennis courts. Scout cabins are also located in the park, along with a pond and four playground areas that include a community-built Leathers Associates all-wooden playground called "Rainbow Dreamland". There are also pavilions, shelters and open tables to enjoy picnics and a large pavilion that can accommodate approximately 100 people.

The Community Center that seats approximately 150 is available all year for weddings, graduation parties, family reunions, birthday parties, showers, conferences, card parties, and leisure activities such as line dancing. The park gazebo is also available for wedding ceremonies or other events.

The East Palestine City School District has three facilities situated in a campus style environment serving approximately 1,300 students.. . . elementary, middle and high schools.

East Palestine has produced some very accomplished athletes, including Wynn Hawkins, Major League Baseball player and pitcher for the Cleveland Indians, Jerry McGee,retired professional golfer,J. T. Miller, Ice hockey Center with the New York Rangers and 1st round pick in the 2011 Entry Draft, and Fred Hoaglin, NFL football player and assistant coach.
